Looking for something to make you feel GREAT on a Monday? Well here is the perfect fix, courtesy of St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception School in San Francisco. Created in three weeks using spare time in literature and social studies classes, this amazingly beautiful and inspirational video is the perfect example of a 21st century music lesson!

As well as being such an uplifting and extremely well put together video, it’s particularly interesting to see the impact technology is having on the mindset of the school. It makes me realize how important musical instruments are for kids of all ages – whether traditional or electronic, they can be game changers in students’ lives.

This year the McMicking Foundation gifted iPads to our school… In addition, the school rewrote its handbook to encourage the use of personal devices brought from home.

Put together using virtual instruments from Garageband, drums, and a Roland Digital Keyboard, this video not only shows the power technology is putting at students’ fingertips, but also the huge amount of FUN that can be had ‘creating’ with it.

Teachers created online forums in which students could interact, ask questions, and share ideas in real time. Students discussed:

  • Digital Citizenship
  • Use of Media
  • Literacy
  • …Music

Well done to everyone from St. Anthony-Immaculate Conception School, this video has been an inspiration to all of us!
