This Week’s Wallpaper

It seems only appropriate that in this week leading up to St. Patrick’s Day we celebrate a great Irish poet, William Butler Yeats. Born and educated in Dublin, Ireland, Yeats was one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature, being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1923. His famous quote featured in this week’s wallpaper will ring true for anyone who is a self-confessed lifelong learner. It will also ring true for any educator who has seen the reaction of a student who has had the flame of learning ignited. As educators, we know that real education does not occur when students are force fed facts and figures (filling the pail). Real learning only occurs when students are inspired and intrigued to learn (lighting of a fire).

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.

There will be more and more school wallpapers added to the collection over coming months. As part of this, we really want to hear your feedback. What do you want to see on your devices and classroom walls? What images and words inspire your students to be their best? And what other forms can these messages take? iPad covers? Books?

If you have any great ideas or specific designs you’d like to see in future classroom posters and school wallpapers, let us know in the comments below or drop us a line!
